There is a large crime scene established in the 1500 block of Springfield Avenue as police work the scene of a shooting that has a man down at this time in Maplewood.
Gunfire rang out in the area at around 8:30 p.m. sending police to the scene where the found the victim shot at that location.
According to preliminary reports, a male suspect was observed running from the scene immediately after the shooting.
The condition of the victim has only been reported as "grave injuries" at this time.
Expect some traffic and possible detours on Springfield Avenue near Vermont Street.
Avoid the area for the investigation.
