Newark Police detectives are on the scene investigating a shooting with a man seriously injured in the city’s Central Ward at this time.
It happened on the Newark side of the Clay Street bridge around 3:10 p.m.
Police were dispatched to 2 Spring Street after receiving reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they found a male victim bleeding from his neck after an armed suspect fired at him and fled the scene.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital for treatment while police searched the new apartment complex for the suspect.
Witnesses say the suspect wore dark clothing during the shooting and then ran northbound on Spring Street.
No other injuries were reported.
