Authorities are looking into the circumstances behind a pedestrian strike that resulted in fatal injuries in a neighborhood in Orange overnight.
According to officials, just before midnight, emergency responders were dispatched to 166 Pierson Street to investigate reports of an injured.
Upon arrival, officials said firefighters found a 65-year-old man trapped under a car in a driveway at that location.
Firefighters and rescue crews worked frantically to remove the victim from under the vehicle, according to authorities.
The victim was eventually extricated then rushed to University Hospital, where he died a short time later.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the driver was pulling into the driveway and apparently did not see the victim. Still, authorities have not determined the official cause of the deadly crash at this time.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
