Police are on the scene investigating a double shooting that occurred in a section of Newark’s Central Ward this evening.
A preliminary investigation indicated that at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired near 92 Irvine Turner Boulevard.
Police arrived and found evidence that a shooting occurred but no victims at that location.
While police canvassed the scene, officials at University Hospitals notified authorities that a man and a young child had arrived at the emergency room via private vehicle suffering bullet wounds.
The condition of the victims has not been released at this time.
Police have not found any additional victims at the crime scene.
This investigation is active and ongoing.
UPDATE: There is a total of three gunshot victims.
