Police have a crime scene established in a section of Newark’s North Ward as detectives investigate a shooting with one person dead at this time.
According to police, the incident occurred around 8:44 p.m., where gunfire rang out near the vicinity of Delavan Avenue and Oraton Street.
Officers arrived and found a male victim suffering bullet wounds in his head at that location.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has been notified and are responding to the scene.
The suspect fled the scene and is at-large.
