Authorities are investigating an incident that killed a 44-year-old New York woman and left a 54-year-old man seriously injured after both were struck by a car in Linden this morning.
According to preliminary reports, the incident happened at the intersection of Dewitt and St. Georges around 6:30 a.m. where emergency responders rushed to the scene after they received reports of injured pedestrians.
Crews arrived at the scene to find the two New York residents seriously injured at that location.
According to police, the woman was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway, where she was pronounced dead. The man was rushed to University Hospital in Newark with serious injuries.
Police have a crime scene established and an investigation underway.
