Jersey City Police, in coordination with Hudson County authorities, are currently investigating a mass casualty shooting that transpired early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. near 264 Culver Street.
Police responded to multiple ShotSpotter activations in the area, prompting units to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Gunmen had reportedly arrived at the location and opened fire on a group of people, resulting in the victim's injuries.
As law enforcement secured the area and launched their investigation, Jersey City Medical Center officials notified authorities of additional gunshot victims seeking treatment at the hospital.
In total, five victims have been reported.
The motive behind this shocking mass shooting is still under investigation, with no arrests reported at this time.
Authorities are diligently working to piece together the events leading up to the incident.
