Governor Phil Murphy announced a third death and 80 new positive coronavirus cases for a total of 178 in the state.
The governor said the patient was a male in his 90s who was being treated in Bergen County.
Today, Governor Murphy ordered the mobilization of the state National Guard to work with building unions and private developers to find existing facilities -- such as dormitories and former nursing homes -- that can most easily be converted to medical facilities, with the goal of creating an additional 9,000 beds.
