The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are on the scene of a pedestrian strike with a confirmed fatality on a street in Belleville at this time.
According to police, at approximately 2:40 p.m. emergency responders rushed to the 500 block of Washington Avenue after they received reports of a person down in the roadway.
Upon arrival, police found a severely injured woman who was struck by a commercial garage truck at that locaiton.
According to The Essex County Prosecutor's Office, the unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is active investigations active, ongoing and no other injuries were reported.
