A deadly fire broke out early this morning in a cluttered apartment on the 12th floor of a Jersey City high-rise, resulting in at least one fatality.The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department are currently investigating the incident that occurred at 270 Marin Boulevard.
Firefighting crews were called to the scene around 5 a.m. after reports of a blaze with potential occupants trapped inside.
Upon entry, firefighters discovered an unresponsive individual amidst heavy clutter, which complicated the rescue efforts.
Despite immediate CPR efforts, the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced dead and confirmed by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
The fire, described as fast-moving, was successfully extinguished within half an hour by the responding teams.No other injuries have been reported in connection with this incident.
The cause of the fire remains under active investigation, with authorities looking into all aspects to determine the initiating factors and any possible preventative measures.
