Authorities are actively looking into a pedestrian strike that left one person dead on a NJ highway overnight.
According to NJ-511, it happened at approximately 12:10 a.m. in the westbound lanes -just at Passaic Avenue- where police and EMS were notified of a pedestrian struck on the highway.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene to find a severely injured, unconscious and unresponsive person lying in the roadway according to preliminary reports.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel reports said.
It is not immediately clear what the victim was doing on the highway at this time.
The incident caused massive delays on the highway as authorities conducted their active and ongoing investigation.
