Police are on the scene of a shooting with a child injured in Newark's North Ward at this time.
According to on-the-scene reports, just before 1:15 p.m., gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 255 Broadway, prompting a police investigation.
Upon arrival, officers rated the area off after locating shell casing at that location.
Police say a child, around 3-years-old, suffered a non-life-threatening graze wound after a gunman fired multiple times near a vehicle.
The child’s father was also struck by gunfire.
The victims were rushed to University Hospital in stable condition and in a private vehicle.
They are expected to survive.
This is an active and ongoing investigation being led by Newark Police.
