Somerset County officials are investigating the death of a child in Franklin Township earlier this afternoon.
Officials said detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, along with Franklin Township Police, are actively investigating a child fatality that occurred within the jurisdiction of Franklin Township.
Authorities have notified the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, who will be responding to conduct the investigation.
While authorities would not release what caused the child’s death, sources say the child was left inside a hot vehicle at an address on Somerall Road.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and performed unsuccessful CPR.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
