BREAKING: Broad-Daylight Shots Fired in Newark’s West Ward Leave Multiple Injured

Police and emergency medical services are currently on the scene of a broad daylight shooting incident in Newark’s West Ward, where several people have been reported injured.  

According to preliminary reports, the shooting occurred around 10:10 a.m. when multiple rounds of gunfire activated a ShotSpotter device near South 19th Street and 19th Avenue. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered two women and a man suffering from gunshot wounds.  

While tending to the injured and searching the area, authorities found another victim with bullet wounds on South 17th Street.

The conditions of the victims have not yet been confirmed.  

Newark’s Shooting Response Team is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. 

We urge the public to avoid the area while the investigation remains ongoing.
