There is an active search for a suspect possibly involved in the robbery of three McDonalds Restaurants in Newark early this morning.
Police responded to one of the establishments that's located in the 500 block of McCarter Highway in the city's East Ward shortly before 6:30 a.m after receiving several reports of an armed robbery in progress.
Officers arrived to the scene where employees told them that a black male suspect entered the establishment armed with a weapon and demanded cash.
An undetermined amount of cash was handed to the suspect before he fled the scene.
About 15 minutes later, several calls came into police headquarters reporting an armed robbery in progress at a McDonalds Restaurant located in the 100 block of Clinton Ave. where a black male suspect entered the store armed with a gun and demanded cash.
The suspect reportedly took the entire cash register before fleeing the scene in what's being reported as a 4-door dark colored sedan.
There were no injuries in either store robbery.
UPDATE 7:55 A.M. We have a third McDonalds that has just been robbed in the city at this time. An armed man pointed a weapon at a drive thru attendant at the McDonalds located in the 300 block of West Market and took a undetermined amount of cash.
