The early morning hours in Newark and the surrounding North Jersey region have greeted residents with the season's coldest weather so far.
As the clock struck 4:30 a.m. in neighboring Harrison, Newark, and Kearny, temperatures struggled to climb above 35 degrees, providing a brisk start to the day.
Despite the frigid start, one silver lining is the dry weather.
According to data from The National Weather Service, the day is expected to be sunny, with a high temperature reaching near 49 degrees.
While the morning may feel quite chilly, the sun should bring minimal warmth as the day progresses. However, as the evening approaches, temperatures are anticipated to drop once again.
Tonight is forecasted to be mostly clear, with a low of around 37 degrees. A west wind of around eight mph may add a slight chill to the air.
Residents in the Newark area are advised to dress warmly and prepare for the cold as they head out to start their day.
