Residents in Newark and North Jersey residents are waking up to another bitterly cold morning, with temperatures plunging to 19 degrees and wind chills making it feel even colder across the region.For those heading out early, bundling up is essential, as wind chills are hovering in the single digits. In Newark, it feels like 9 degrees, while Sussex County is experiencing a bone-chilling 2 degrees.
Morristown and Haledon are also enduring icy conditions, with real-feel temperatures at 3 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, clouds will gradually increase throughout the day, with a high near 31 degrees.
However, wind chill values will remain between 5 and 15 degrees, making for a cold and brisk afternoon.
By tonight, skies will become partly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to around 17 degrees. Wind chill values will stay between 10 and 15 degrees, keeping conditions frigid through the overnight hours.
Residents should dress in layers and limit prolonged exposure to the cold, as these temperatures can pose risks for frostbite and hypothermia.
