Police officials in Hillside are investigating a bomb threat that closed a highway in the Township today.
According to a statement released by police, at approximately 12:04 pm this afternoon, the Hillside Police Department received a bomb threat to 1405 N. Broad Street.
Police say the target of the threat, businesses and the surrounding area were immediately evacuated. Parts of North Broad Street, Hillside Avenue and Route 22 were closed to traffic and pedestrians.
The Union County Bomb Squad responded, cleared the building and deemed it safe.
The threat was determined to be unfounded, according to police.
