NJ State Police officials investigate the official cause of death for a man found dead under a highway bridge in Newark Friday morning.
According to NJ State Police, at approximately 10:11 a.m., Newark Police contacted State Troopers to advise that they observed the body of a deceased adult male under I-280 in Newark in the area of Broad Street.
According to State Police officials, The State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed the scene and preliminary information indicated that the cause of death does not appear suspicious.
Essex County Medical Examiner's Office secured the body and the incident remains under investigation.
State Police have not confirmed if the man was swept away in flooding water then drowned during torrential rain produced by Tropical Storm Ida.
