The State Regional Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death for a man found dead inside an abandoned building in a section of Newark Friday evening.
According to a preliminary investigation, police received calls reporting suspicious activities at a building near the intersection of Morris and 15th avenues at approximately 4 p.m.
Offcials say officers arrived and requested assistance from Newark firefighters after noticing some possible stability issues with the building.
Once authorities entered the structure, they found the unconscious and unresponsive body of an adult male inside, according to police.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no official reports of a homicide investigation from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
