The Newark Police Department was on the scene, working a death investigation at the Bakery Village Apartment Complex located in the 400 block of 4th Avenue.
According to a preliminary investigation, police received a report of an unconscious and unresponsive male at the developing around 6:35 p.m.
Police say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A crime scene unit was called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has not reported a homicide investigation at this time.
