Police in Newark are actively investigating an incident where a body was found at a location in the city's North Ward on Friday night.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of 4th Avenue and Broadway to investigate reports of suspicious activities shortly before 9:10 p.m.
Officers arrived and found an unconscious and unresponsive person at that location.
Police say, medical professionals, pronounced the unidentified person dead at the scene, but the Essex County Prosecutor's Office has not announced an investigation at this time.
Detective for The Newark Police department are looking into what caused the death of the person.
