NJ Transit officials are investigating a possible pedestrian strike that caused fatal injuries on Tuesday night in Paterson.
According to a statement from officials, at approximately 7:41 p.m. NJ Transit Port Jervis Train #1125 departed Hoboken at 6:53 pm and was headed westbound on the Main Line when the engineer came across a body near the tracks in Paterson between Getty Avenue in Clifton and Main Street in Paterson.
It is unknown if the body was struck by an NJ TRANSIT train, officials said.
The train was scheduled to arrive in Suffern at 8:09 p.m., with approximately 25 customers and crew on board.
Main Bergen Port Jervis rail service was subjected to a 30-minute delay in both directions.
