Bloomfield Police Pursuit Ends in Multiple Police Vehicle Crashes in Newark

Early Monday morning, several police officers sustained injuries following two separate collisions that occurred during a high-speed chase spanning from Bloomfield to Newark's West and North wards.VaccineAccording to preliminary reports, the pursuit began shortly before 1:40 a.m., as Bloomfield Police attempted to stop a black BMW linked to felony charges.

The driver, refusing to halt, led officers on a high-speed chase through various Newark neighborhoods.

Crash

The chase culminated in violent crashes around 1:50 a.m. near South Orange Avenue, stretching from Grove Street to Oraton Parkway.

According to reports, three marked police units were involved in the incident: one cruiser collided with a tree, another struck a storefront, and a third vehicle overturned during the pursuit.

 

Additionally, two civilian vehicles, including an SUV, were involved in the collision, resulting in minor injuries to their occupants, who were subsequently transported to the hospital.VaccineAll injured officers were promptly transported to University Hospital in Newark.

They are reported to be stable and are expected to recover from their injuries.

The incident is under investigation, and authorities are trying to piece together the events that led to the dangerous pursuit and subsequent crashes.
