John DeRosa was sentenced today to life in prison for the murder of Xavier Egoavil during a robbery at his Kearny jewelry store.
Hudson County Superior Court Judge Patrick Arre today sentenced DeRosa to life in prison for murder, 20 years for robbery and 10 years for a handgun offense. According to sentence terms, by the time DeRosa sevens the time concurrently, he will be 133 years old.
According to authorities, DeRosa's along with co-defendants Elvis Feratovic, 30, Bloomfield and Edmir Sokoli, 29, of Bloomfield, assisted in the robbery of Rachel Jewelers on Kearny Avenue. According to Sokoli and Egoavil's mother, the gunman shot the owner when he became aggressive.
Security video evidence, witness testimonies were also presented during the trial.
DeRosa's former girlfriend Marissa Fuzio, also testified that she saw him come home with a bag full of jewelry and reportedly told her that he shot a man while a jewelry store robbery.
