Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Belleville Police Chief Mark Minichini announced today that Alan Faynzilberg, 19, of Bloomfield has been arrested and charged with vehicle homicide in connection with the May 27, death of Luis Davila, 33, of Belleville.
Authorities said at approximately 8:30 p.m in Belleville, Davila was hit head-on when Faynzilberg crossed Belleville Avenue into oncoming traffic.
In addition to the vehicle homicide charge, Faynzilberg has also been charged with aggravated assault for the severe injuries sustained by his girlfriend who was a passenger in the vehicle authorities said.
Faynzilberg, who was arrested at his home in Bloomfield today, was also injured in the crash.
The Honorable Marysol Rosero, Judge of the Superior Court, set bail at $350,000.
