Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of Matthew H. Cabrita, 26, of Bloomfield.
The investigation revealed that Matthew H. Cabrita was involved in the distribution of controlled dangerous substances. As a result, law enforcement personnel conducted an investigative motor vehicle stop of Cabrita's vehicle in Wallington on September 6th, which led to the seizure of approximately two hundred grams of cocaine.
A subsequent search of Cabrita's residence revealed approximately fourteen pounds of marijuana, several hundred THC vapor pens, eighty grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, including a vacuum sealer and bags, and U.S. Currency totaling $86,028.00 was also located and seized. The estimated street value of the suspected controlled dangerous substances seized was approximately $100,000.00.
Police arrested and charged Matthew H. Cabrita with one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Cocaine, one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Cocaine, one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Marijuana, one count of Money Laundering, and one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
Cabrita was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a Central Judicial Processing court date.
These charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
