Bloomfield Man Among Four Arrested for Weapons Possession in Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced last night’s arrest of two Newark men for possessing guns by members of the Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau.

According to police, the first arrest occurred shortly before midnight on Hedden Terrace. Detectives were issuing 23-year-old Isaiah Ketchens, a traffic ticket when they saw a gun in the car authorities said.

Ketchens was charged with possession of a gun, possession of a gun for unlawful purposes and possession of hollow point bullets as was Fleming. Ketchens was additionally charged with possession of marijuana, as were two other men who were with him in the car, Isaiah Myles, 19 of Bloomfield, and Tyheed Harris, 20 from Newark.

The second arrest occurred this morning shortly after 3am when detectives stopped to question Jamal Fleming who was doubled-parked in the 200 block of Renner Avenue. While approaching the car, they saw Fleming attempting to hide a gun. He was arrested without incident.

These are mere allegations. All of the suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
