BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- A man has been arrested and charged with criminal mischief for vandalizing three police vehicles outside of Police Headquarters on Thursday evening police officials in Bloomfield said in a public statement.
According to the statement, Bloomfield police officers noticed damages to the license plates and/or window wiper blades of three official police vehicles shortly before 10:00 pm Thursday.
Officials said officers were able to collect partial prints left on the damaged vehicles, and, using other resources available to them, identify 29-year-old Bloomfield resident Mr. Govinda Premnauth as the suspect.
Police arrested Mr. Premnauth afterward and issued him a court summons officials said.
“Our officers take vandalism very seriously, and certainly when it concerns Police vehicles, which we need in top condition to protect and serve Bloomfield residents, including the suspected perpetrator of this vandalism,” said Director of Public Safety Samuel DeMaio.
“I would like to congratulate our dedicated Detective Bureau and Internal Affairs detectives for their professionalism in investigating this matter, as well as Officers Jen Horn and Joseph Davis, who made the arrest.”
