Bloomfield Felon Accused of Shooting at Bayonne Home

A 38-year-old Bloomfield man, who recently completed a 15-year prison sentence, is now accused of firing shots at a Bayonne home back in April.

Following an investigation into the April 9 shooting on Newman Avenue, police recovered surveillance videos that led to the vehicle driven by Phillip T. Palmer  during and after the shooting.

Palmer is charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and criminal mischief.

He was also charged with criminal mischief for damage a bullet caused to a window frame and to an interior wall of the residence.

Palmer was detained until his detention hearing Wednesday before Hudson County Superior Court Judge Paul DePascale.

The motive for the shooting has not been revealed.
