After a brief taste of warmth, the Newark and North Jersey region is waking up to below-freezing temperatures once again, with biting winds making it feel even colder.
Following a pleasant Wednesday where temperatures climbed to nearly 50 degrees, the region is now back to winter’s grip, starting Thursday morning at 27 degrees.
In Sussex County, winds have caused temperatures to plummet to 17 degrees, while Edison is at 25, Paterson is at 21, and Morristown is at a frigid 16 degrees.
Although winds will ease by the afternoon, the sunshine won’t do much to warm things up.
According to the National Weather Service, today’s forecast calls for sunny skies with a high near 38 degrees, though wind chills will make it feel between 15 and 25 degrees.
Tonight, clouds will begin to build, bringing a 40 percent chance of rain after 4 a.m.
While today will be cold, milder temperatures may be on the way. Stay warm, North Jersey!
