The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed their involvement in an investigation into a hit and run that left a bicyclist severely injured on a highway in Kearny Friday morning.
According to a brief statement from Spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill, just after 8:30 a.m., emergency responders rushed to the US-1&9 truck lanes near Jacobus Avenue after receiving reports of a person down on the highway.
Upon arrival, crews found an unidentified bicyclist suffering serious injuries after a vehicle struck him then drove away.
The victim was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment as detectives closed off one lane of the highway for the investigation.
According to spokeswoman Morrill, The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the hit and crash and no other information was immediately available.
