Authorities in Monmouth County are looking into a fatal bicycle accident that occurred in Howell Township Friday night.
A preliminary investigation indicated that just before 10:15 p.m., police were dispatched to the 4400 block of U.S. 9 to investigate reports of a crash with injuries.
Upon arrival, police found an unidentified person lying in the roadway, ejected from a bicycle at that location.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Traffic officers closed the northbound lanes of U.S. 9 from New Friendship Road for the crash investigation.
No other injuries were reported.
