Best Buy company officials said 51,000 employees would be furloughed beginning next week.
According to officials, starting April 19, mostly hourly employees will be cut, but they will continue to have health benefits.
Best Buy said keeping benefits and healthcare is the most important thing now.
The company’s stores are offering curbside pickup during the coronavirus pandemic, but they’ve been closed to customers since March 22.
Online sales in the U.S. are up more than 250% and about half of those sales are picked up at its stores.
