The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the intersection of Godwin Avenue and Witte Drive in Midland Park.
According to Bergen County officials, Midland Park Police responded to the scene at approximately 7:09 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the vehicle involved had fled the scene.
The adult male pedestrian was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center with serious injuries but was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is being led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Midland Park Police Department, under the direction of Chief Michael Powderley.
Authorities have not yet released additional details about the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation remains ongoing.
