A beloved Turtle Back Zoo giraffe dies from complications during a medical procedure.
"It is with a heavy heart that we share news of the passing of Hodari, our beloved 11-year-old Masai giraffe," said Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo, Jr.
Hodari passed away Wednesday afternoon from complications during a medical procedure.
"He was a beautiful animal who quickly became a fan favorite when the Giraffe House exhibit opened last year. We will miss him terribly, and we know our fans will as well."
Turtle Back Zoo's Giraffe Exhibit quickly became popular according to official at the zoo because of Hodari.
Hodari died under anesthesia while a veterinarian and dental specialist worked on his teeth.
