Police in Newark followed a vehicle occupied by suspects who committed a carjacking in Belleville overnight.
According to reports, police in Newark's North Ward began following the grey 2021 Toyota Rav 4 taken from the victim in the 100 block of Heckle Street before 9:40 p.m.
Police say the vehicle had NJ license plate number "H68-PAK".
The driver refused to pull over for police and sped through the northern section of the city until the car was last spotted in the vicinity of Clifton and Bloomfield avenues around 12:45 a.m.
Police reported no injuries in the carjacking, and the incident remains under investigation.
