Being Taken For Granted & How To Change It

New Jersey

By: O.L./Sway Buckley

I try my best to be a good wife.

Meaning supportive and flexible.

But there was a time when I couldn't do the heavy lifting more-or I chose not to.

If you're an ambitious and driven infopreneur who has ever felt taken for granted, this is for you.

We, women, were created to wear all the hats.

And wear them well we do.

That's how we're wired.

Marriedpreneur LifeHowever, just because we can do it doesn't mean we want to be expected to do it.

I recall a season in our marriage when I was doing A LOT in our business to free up some time for my husband to handle other priorities. And I was happy to do it. 🙂

However, many moving pieces needed to get done to meet each project's goal. For some reason, my husband didn't realize how much was indeed on my plate, and he began to expect me to do it (and more) with very little appreciation.

(For the record, that's the part that stabbed me in the heart).

Marriedpreneur PodcastSo, here's what I did, and it worked!

I sat him down and explained how I was feeling taken for granted.

That wasn't his intention, but it was still the truth. Then I took him step-by-step through everything I had to do to get to the finished project.

He was stunned.

I was glad.

He told me that he had no idea it took all of those steps to complete what seemed to be a simple project. He told me I made it look easy, so he thought it was.

That's when my lightbulb came on. I needed to start showing him the steps so he could have a greater appreciation for the work done in business and at home.
