On March 25, 37-year-old Anthony Krempel was formally charged with Vehicular Homicide following a motor vehicle accident that occurred on January 20 in Berkeley Township.

Authorities say the crash happened around noon, when Krempel was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox at a high rate of speed on Grand Central Parkway.

The vehicle left the road and collided with a tree.

The passenger, 34-year-old Emanuela Fuchs, also of Beachwood, was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where she was later pronounced dead.

Responding officers noted signs of impairment in Krempel at the scene.

He was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where a blood sample was obtained under a court-authorized warrant.

According to the prosecutor’s office, lab results from the blood test, received on March 17, confirmed that Krempel was under the influence of Fentanyl and Methadone at the time of the crash.

Based on those findings, authorities charged him with Vehicular Homicide.
