Wall Township Police assisted in a pursuit that ended in a crash in their municipality on Thursday morning.
According to police, on Thursday, March 4, at approximately 1:15 a.m. the Wall Township Police Department located a 2017 Audi that was reported stolen out of New Providence after it crashed into a telephone pole at the intersection of Allaire Road and New Bedford Road.
Police said that upon officer’s arrival at the scene five occupants were observed fleeing from the vehicle on foot. They were all apprehended a short distance from the crash scene. All five occupants are juveniles from Newark.
The juveniles were charged with receiving stolen property, joyriding, obstructing the administration of justice and multiple motor vehicle summonses.
The Monmouth County area has seen an increase in motor vehicle thefts as of recently. Wall Township residents are reminded to remove the keys from their vehicles along with all personal effects and lock their doors to their vehicles.
