Fire officials in Irvington are investigating a fire that damaged a home in the township Sunday afternoon.
Officials say heavy fire tore through the basement of a home located in the 100 block of Munn Avenue at around 3:40 p.m.
When crews arrived, they found thick smoke and flames visible from the basement with fire extending to the first floor.
Firefighters stretched several lines to get the blaze under control in under 30-minutes.
An adult male was pulled from the building by firefighters and evaluated by medical personnel at the scene.
The cause of the fire has not been determined but fire officials believe the blaze started on a mattress.
