Law enforcement agencies from across the county have converged on the scene of a tense standoff involving a barricaded man inside a building in Irvington Township.
The incident, which began on Wednesday evening, is taking place at a location in the 300 block of Nesbitt Terrace.
Officials have confirmed that the suspect is armed, though it remains unclear whether there are any hostages involved.
Authorities have cordoned off the surrounding area, and several streets are closed as the Newark SWAT team assists local police in managing the situation.
