Police in Newark's East Ward are investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred at a business in the city's Ironbound section on Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to the vicinity of 195 Ferry Street to investigate reports of shots fired at approximately 2 a.m.
Officer arrived and learned that a security guard opened fire on a suspect during an unspecified incident that erupted at the establishment.
There were no injuries reported and Newark Major crimes unit were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
Police are attempting to piece together what occurred during the incident.
