Bank Robbery in Newark's Ironbound Section Under Investigation

Authorities in Newark are investigating an armed robbery that happened in the city's East Ward earlier this evening.

According to a spokesperson for the FBI, a male suspect walked into the Crown Bank located in the 100 block of Ferry Street at around 5:30 p.m and took an undetermined amount of proceeds.

The suspect has only been described as a black male who was wearing a blue hat and a white shirt when he fled the scene according to the spokesperson.

It is not immediately clear if the suspect produced a weapon or passed a note.

There were no physical injuries reported.
