Police in Newark are investigating the motive behind a shooting that occurred near the border of the city's South and Central wards Monday afternoon.
According to police, the broad daylight shots-fired incident happened near the intersection of Avon Avenue and Hillside Avenue just before 2:20 p.m.
Police said they received reports of shots fired in the area and when they arrived at the scene, officers found shell casings at that location.
A thorough search of the neighborhood indicated there were no victims.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
