Bergen County authorities are investigating the cause of a crash that killed a baby on Saturday night in Hackensack.
According to a preliminary report, police closed Passaic Street in both directions between Franklin and Haynes places when a car somehow lost control and slammed into a pole at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Police say the child was reportedly on his mother’s lap when the vehicle struck a utility pole, in the vicinity of 286 Passaic Street according to Bergen. County Prosecutor Mark Musella.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Hackensack Police Department.
