At approximately 9:23 p.m. on March 13, Trenton police responded to the area of Dayton and Grand Streets following a ShotSpotter activation indicating multiple gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a white Toyota 4Runner parked in the middle of the roadway in the 300 block of Dayton Street.

Inside the vehicle, they found a 25-year-old male in the driver’s seat suffering from a severe gunshot wound.

Officers immediately rendered emergency aid until medical personnel arrived. The victim was then transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have identified the deceased as Wilmer Eliu Vidal Romero, a resident of Trenton.

At this time, no arrests have been made, and investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
