NJ State Police are investigating a crash that caused fatal injuries to one person on the NJ Turnpike overnight.
The crash happened in the northbound lanes of the highway near mile marker 98.7 at around 8:30 p.m. where police were called to the scene after receiving reports of a crash with injuries.
Arriving emergency responders located the multi-vehicle crash with at least one person trapped inside of a severely damaged vehicle according to reports.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene while at least one other victim was transported to the hospital suffering serious injuries.
The crash closed several lanes of the highway for the collision investigation.
The identity of the victim as not been released at this time.
