Authorities Investigate Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash in Woodbridge Township

Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone reported on Sunday that an investigation is underway following a fatal single-car crash that occurred on the morning of October 25.NinosAccording to a statement released by Prosecutor Ciccone, the incident took place at approximately 9:05 a.m. near Route 9 and Green Street in Woodbridge Township.

When Woodbridge police responded to the scene, they discovered a 2017 Kia Sportage that had been involved in the crash.

The vehicle's only occupant, 47-year-old Mario Ortiz Bonilla of North Plainfield, was found in the front passenger seat and was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

According to the statement released by Prosecutor Ciccone, an investigation led by Detective Jeffery Horvath of the Woodbridge Police Department and Detective Matthew Colonna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that the driver of the Kia Sportage had fled the scene prior to police arrival.
