Authorities Identify Man Shot Dead in Newark

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the fatal shooting of Karod H. Tucker, 36, of Irvington.

Authorities said, at approximately 9:42 pm yesterday Newark Police were called to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue in the vicinity of the Stephen Crane Village.

When they arrived they discovered the victim with what appeared to be multiple gun shot wounds.

He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m.

At this time the investigation is active and ongoing authorities said.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
